Day Twenty

I have these two beautiful bad boys sitting around, just waiting.... waiting for a place to be... a place to belong.

They have been here for awhile, just staring at me. You will have a home soon... I promise!!
And as Dexter would say "They are big enough for any body."

Day Nineteen

Houston, we have a problem...

  Can you see it?
Problem solved.....
Almost...
Now we need someone to come out and fix the hole in the wall. Other than that, things are running smoothly.  Counter tops should be in on Wednesday (maybe).
We are closer to the end than we are to beginning.  It is all a blur!!  I have to go back and read my own blog!!

Day Eighteen

Dinner in a crock pot...
And a toaster over...

And yes.... That is a glass of a fine red wine.  Yummy!

Day Sixteen and Seventeen

No one came to work on the kitchen yesterday or today. I knew the time would come that I would just be sitting and waiting... So, I saved some photos for days like these. Not having a kitchen hasn't been to bad. There is only 2 things that are getting to me.... the amount of trash we are producing and the fact that I have to share an outlet for my hairdryer and my coffee pot.

Sunday night, we had bacon, bean and cheese tacos with potatoes.  All cooked in the bacon grease. It was all cooked on Mr. Wonderful's 20 year old, pawn shop Coleman camping stove.

It was greasy, but very yummy! (in an artery clogging king of way)

Day Fifteen

After two days of painting, Mr. Wonderful was very glad to go back to work this morning. He did a great job on painting.  It will be easier to touch up than to paint around the cabinets.  Thanks Pookie!!

This morning my kitchen looked like this...
By the lunch time, my kitchen looked like this....

And by 4:30, my kitchen looked like this.

All the cabinets that support the counter tops are in place.  Tomorrow, they will come out to make a template for the counter tops and the cabinet guys will finish installing the rest of the cabinets.  I am very excited the inside of the cabinet is a light color.  It will be easy to see inside them. Can you see that dark, rich stain?  I just love it.

Day Thirteen and Fourteen

Mr. Wonderful had the painful privilege of painting.  We wanted to get the paint done before the cabinets were installed.  It made the painting a lot easier because there is nothing to spill paint on.

 Look at that concentration!!
That should catch everyone up to speed.

Tomorrow... the cabinets!!!

Day Eleven and Twelve

Friday, the drywall guys can in to texture the walls.  They were finished by 2 pm.

We spent the next two days watching the texture dry.   (Plus running Adidas to her soccer tournament.  Her team took 3rd for the division.  Go Blitz!!)

Happy Anniversary

Last weekend, we went to celebrate my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary.  We had a great time.  I always love spending time with my family.  I would like to thank my in-laws for teaching us what it takes to stay married.  Love, patience, forgiveness and grace should be a big part of married life.  Thanks for setting the example and calling us all to stay true to our commitments.   We love you both very much!!  Happy 50th and one week anniversary.

Day Ten

The walls are up! Can you believe it?

Today, they will finish taping and floating the walls and maybe texture the ceiling.  If the walls are dry enough, they may even texture the walls.  Once that is done, we can paint.  If all goes according to plan, the cabinets will start to go in on Tuesday.

Day Nine

Yesterday was very quite.  I was in and out of the house a lot, but I never saw anyone working.  An inspector may have come by, but I'm not really sure.  I have no new pictures to show any progress. sorry.

Today, the guys who insulate and put up dry wall start their job today.  I think the pictures will show a huge change.  I'll post those tomorrow.  Have a great day!!

Day Eight

YAY! We passed electrical and plumbing inspections.  They put in the hurricane straps on the exterior walls, so now we are ready for the structural inspector to come out.  The straps are hard to see, but they are at the top of each 2 x 4 and above the window.

I have a confession to make... The ceiling fan that Mr. Wonderful moved last week... Well, he had to move it back, because the cabinet door would hit the ceiling fan.  The whole mix up was my fault.  The contractor asked if I wanted the ceiling fans centered.  I said "yes", but the rest of his question was, "do you want them centered in the room?"  One room is bigger than the other.  Of course, they are not going to line up with each other.  So, the contractor, being the nice guy that he is, moved the one above the table just six inches, for me.  He really is a great guy!!
They also came in and put a new duct for the exhaust fan for the microwave.
Once the sheet rock and the cabinets are in, they will come back out to fit it.

One move inspection and some insulation, then they will be able to start sheet rocking.  It may even be tomorrow. WOW!! Things are moving very well.

Day Seven

The morning started off with an inspector that came when no one was home.  He left a note.  He should be here today.  After everything is inspected by water and electric inspectors, they can start the drywall, maybe as early as Friday.

The plumber was in yesterday to cover the pipes with insulation.  It was a very quite day.

Day Six

The floor is done! Someone was in over the weekend and fixed the floor.  The tile guy did an awesome job.  He filled in where the cabinets were, so that the new cabinets would sit level.
(This dog really likes to get her picture taken. I don't know how she always gets in here.)

The dark tile was used because there wasn't enough of the original tile to go around.  It will be hidden under the cabinets.  Pretty, huh?

Day Five

How do you survive without a kitchen?  Lots of paper plates and plastic silverware.  This is our make-shift kitchen,
 and pantry.
Not cooking is working very well for me. =)

Day Four

The plumber and the electrician came by today.  They moved all that was necessary to recess the header up into the ceiling.  The wires and water lines now bend and curve in all kinds of different directions.

Then the framers came to do their thing.  It was NOISZZZY!!  Now the header is up in the ceiling.  It is kind of hard to see, but once they drywall, it will be obvious.

After everyone left, we went in the kitchen to take pictures.  The first thing my "symmetrical" husband notice was that the ceiling fans were not going to line up.
 So he fixed it.
What a great guy he is!!

Did I mention the plumber was here?  Look, we have water to hook up the ice maker!!

Day Three

After pulling all the sheet rock, some problems became apparent.  The header that is suppose to go up into the ceiling has water and wires crossing over it.  Those need to be moved. The electrician was busy pulling down more sheet rock and rerouting the wires.  Today he will put in the new lighting outlets. The plumber will also have to come in and move the water lines. FUN,FUN, FUN!

No more ceiling!

Below is a picture of the header that is going to be moved.

This is where the deluxe Frig/Freezer will be!!!!  I can't wait to get those big boys plugged in!!  ICE CITY, here we come!!

Can you tell?  I am getting excited!!
